Default Ratio of Kenpo to Non-Kenpo content.

I had a phone call earlier today where a long time member commented that they had some concerns about a few of my recent posts. The short summary was "Bob, you're posting alot of non-kenpo stuff, even allowing some political chat to go on. We just want to focus on Kenpo. Can't we have more kenpo talk on kenpotalk?"

    Absolutely!

We have 2,200 members. I'm just 1. Please, drown me out. Seriously.

I can't add much to the kenpo side. I can ask alot of newb questions, but I don't train in it, and I'll run out of things fast (see 2006). I am however active in business development, internet consulting, site design, and politics. I'm spending alot of my time building resources for our business owners as we need all the help we can in todays economy to keep our doors open.

I have to leave the kenpo to the kenpo people. Please, keep up the technique discussions, post your events, report on your events, and keep us posted on what's going on in your neck of the kenpo world.

    The site's mission is kenpo.
I feel it's also to offer a bit more to attract more people, to give you a little more to do, a little extra to read, and a little more to think about, then I've done my job as visionary.

There are many changes coming soon, new software, new look, new features. What won't change, is the soul. That's Kenpo.

I don't see it as a detraction. I don't talk the politics really, when I see it, I just gloss over it. That's why you created the different forums, to contain the non-kenpo from the kenpo. Personally, I have no issues with how you have it structured.

As for the other non-kenpo stuff, I have seen a lot of school-owner type stuff posted, and I think that's great. Most of it I have seen in various other locations, however hopefully it will generate some conversation on running a kenpo school. It seems that American Kenpo has far fewer full-time schools than many other arts, we tend to be more garage-brand, and I'd love to interface with those who are successful at running Kenpo schools, to find out some of the different things that they have done to be successful.

    Thanks!

    Sean

I'm hoping to grow the School section, as alot of the stuff is just as fitting for a small club looking to grow, as a large school looking to get bigger. We're working on some unique content behind the scenes that will hopefully be ready 1st qtr 2010. Clip arts, as splashes, ready to use phone book ads, etc. Just fill in the blanks and have a slick pro look to your stuff.

We're also looking to bring in some more of the "names", at least for some Q&A. They most likely won't be regulars, but will hopefully contribute a little more to the party as it were.

We're also looking at options to boost the video aspects of the site. It's hard to compete with Youtube and integration's currently not as friendly as it could be. We're looking at some options to make this alot more friendly.

We want this site to be -the- (or at least a top) destination for anyone interested in Kenpo. That's a joint effort from all levels of knowledge.

    Well, Bob...

I've learned my lesson. The last couple of things I've posted or posted to have caused "anguish". I'm going back to just reading, and commenting on innocuous subjects in an innocuous way. That way I don't irritate folks or find out how changed it's getting out there.

And thanks for your concern Roy, but my blood pressure ain't up. LOL!

What's wrong with a little irritation and anguish? If that was a problem, none of us would ever have kids.

And yes, it has all changed -- and yet all remained the same.

Dan and I are good friends and Talk a lot with each other so sometimes I will try and push his buttons a little. By our friendship that started on KenpoTalk,
we now talk on a weekly basis. We are also in the older Age Bracket (me much older) and we think a lot alike. We are for sure "Old School) with many of our beliefs ( good or Bad) but there are a lot of younger forward thinkers on here that have taught us a lot. Just because we are older it don't always mean we are right about everything, I make a lot of mistakes, just ask my
wife of 60 years. According to her I haven't gotten much right. However she does know me better.

Thought I would clear up why I always respond to Dans posts. Another good friendship made on KenpoTalk.

I have been here three years now, and the information on Kenpo is phenominal, but the friends I have made here are amazing (I think I am the only one so far to have found a spouse, lol). Having a little kenpo and some non kenpo in the mix works well for me. Always like the new ideas I get from here.

I have made a number of friends here on KenpoTalk that I truly value. However there is, at least, one that I treasure, and that would be that other contankerous ol' fart... SifuRoy. Titles ain't much, actually. I'm not really a Sigung of any sort, much less 86, and SifuRoy is a whole lot more than a Sifu, in any sense of the word. I also treasure my relationships, sparse as they may be with Arizona, the Divine Ms. Long, Bob and Rob... Conatser, my EPAK instructor and that other old fogie, who calls me occasionally just to ensure I haven't moved to the great beyond, and left no forwarding address.... Doc.

If I have short changed anyone, please don't have hurt feelings... Just get in touch with me more often. rofl!!!!!

Love you all for shaping my path, journey and concepts.

I'd give a full salute to each and every one, but my left ACL repair ain't
working so well in this cold weather.
