You know I support people who try to help the arts.
What I dont support is someone joining this site and their one and only post is an advertisment for an event.

That statement conflicts with the posted rules:
http://kenpotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28
* What is a "Commercial Link"? If you make money from that link, it's commercial.EXCEPTIONS:
* Seminar, Camp and event notifications, reports and reviews are both allowed and encouraged!
* Product reviews on video, audio, print or electronic media done by neutral 3rd parties are also both allowed and encouraged.
While the rules allow for the posting of events, we'd prefer that the people posting would actually stick around and contribute to the site rather than treat us like a telephone pole to staple yet another flyer to.
We're discussing changing our policies on advertisements but nothing has been decided yet.
My opinion on the matter is that if you're not going to post anything other than advertisements, you should drop some coin on the site to keep it running so it's there in the future for your next ad. Weither we limit ad posting to supporting members, or start charging a per-ad placement fee (either a flat rate or tiered based on participation charge) is still being bounced around.
MartialTalk instituted a pay-per-post ad policy recently ($200 for non Supporters, free to SM's). I'm unsure if that is the way to go here.

Whatever you decide is personally fine with me.
But it only seems fair to set everyone's expectations on the same page. If this is not behaviour that you want, then place it in the rules. It does not seem fair to me to come down on a person for doing something that that the rules say " are both allowed and encouraged! "
You are correct. Unfortunately we've long hoped that those who posted about events would come back and tell us how they went, who showed up, what was taught, what was the favorite brewski, etc. Usually they don't and only pop back to post another flyer. Been a disappointment and sometimes we let that slip. Doesn't seem fair to those who put the time, effort and cash into keeping KT running.

Did not mean to creat an issue, just posted my opinion, not sure why I did it in yellow.

No worries, stuff happens. It just looks very strange for the rules to be saying one thing and the staff another.![]()
Never said they could not do it, just dont agree with it

In my opinion a wording that more closely reflects the "KT intention" would be:
That way it shows that we hope members who want to use the site for publicity will either contribute to the site in content OR contribute monetarily.* Seminar, Camp and event notifications, reports and reviews from our regularly contributing members are allowed and encouraged!

People should not be able to pos in the event site if they have not posted and been members previosly.
Just my two cents.

As important as the internet has become for publicity / exposure, it's a wise investment.
