Site Upgrade - 2/11 2010

I'll be doing a major site upgrade sometime this week. It's a multiple part upgrade which will see major changes to the sites look. I'm not sure exactly which day yet and will try to update here the day before I start so everyone has some warning. If you pop in and see a lot of weird stuff, the site closed or a screen full of errors, don't panic.

I'm trying to get this one in before the support licence for KT's software expires on the 14th. Been banging my head against the keyboard as this one's reading as pretty tricky due to a complete database rewrite is says it does. In the event of a problem, I expect I'll be able to wipe things and revert though.

(For anyone interested, the upgrade otherwise costs $200)

ok, 2 forums down and KT is next. Expect the site to be down for about a day when I do this. Hopefully not that long, but it took me 8 hrs to do the Dead Parrot and that's half KT's size.

What we lose, short term:
- Arcade
- Some photo album functionality
- Bunch of mod toys

For those looking to tie in videos, it's now a simple click n add just like inserting a link or a photo. Other features move around and I'm still tracking everything down.

I'm roughly scheduling this for Thursday so if the site goes poof for a bit, don't panic.
